Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended the opening ceremony of a new combined-cycle gas turbine power plant with a capacity of 254 megawatts in Yerevan.
The head of government toured the power plant accompanied by the Chief Executive Officer of the “Renco” company, Giovanni Rubini, and familiarised himself with the work carried out.
Approximately 270 million dollars have been invested in the implementation of the project. 1,200 employees were involved in the construction works, and following the plant’s commissioning, 50 new permanent jobs have been created.
It was noted that after the completion of commissioning works, the power plant will supply the electricity grid of the Republic of Armenia with the cheapest electricity produced by similar plants.
The foundation-laying ceremony of the power plant took place with the participation of Prime Minister Pashinyan on 12 July 2019.
