The administration of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has invited representatives of the Republic of Artsakh to Baku for a meeting.
Recall that on March 1, it was reported about a meeting between representatives of Artsakh and Azerbaijan, mediated by the Russian side.
As the APA agency wrote, Azerbaijan now proposes to hold a second meeting in Baku in the coming days, discussing the issues of the so-called “reintegration” and the “implementation of infrastructure projects” in Artsakh.
Recall that Hikmet Hajiyev, assistant to the President of Azerbaijan for security affairs, had stated that Baku considers unacceptable the attempts of the Armenian authorities to include a point regarding Artsakh in the peace agreement.
According to him, the President of Azerbaijan has repeatedly noted that “the issues related to the peace treaty between Yerevan and Baku should be resolved separately and should not be linked to issues concerning the population of Nagorno-Karabakh.”
“Armenia from the very beginning has tried to include the Karabakh issue in the peace agreement, but that approach is unacceptable for Azerbaijan. The issue of the rights and security of the Armenians of Karabakh is purely an internal matter of Azerbaijan, and Baku is not prepared to discuss issues related to sovereignty with any other party,” Hajiyev declared.
He also added that the rights and security of the Armenians living in Nagorno-Karabakh “will be determined in accordance with the Constitution and laws of Azerbaijan.”
