As a result of the drop in the water level of Lake Van, a fishing pier approximately one hundred years old has been discovered. This was reported by Ermenihaber.am, citing mynet.com.
The emergence of the pier’s wooden pillars above the water has once again confirmed the significant loss of the lake’s water resources.
Cumali Birol, president of the Adilcevaz Culture, Arts and Tourism Association, who has been conducting research in Lake Van for many years, stated that structures are also coming to light in other parts of the lake.
“A drop of about 1.5 metres in water level has been recorded in Lake Van. It is not that this does not worry us; we hope it will not cause harm to nature. The drought has created serious problems for Lake Van, especially this year,” the researcher noted.
