The RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement regarding the attack by Azerbaijani armed forces on the border of the Republic of Armenia today.
We present the statement below.
“Today, on November 16, the armed forces of Azerbaijan launched an attack on the eastern direction of the border of the Republic of Armenia and invaded the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia. The pre-emptive actions of the Azerbaijani side have led to human losses. This latest attack is a continuation of the consistent policy of the Azerbaijani side to occupy territories of the Republic of Armenia, which was initiated on May 12 of this year with the penetration of Azerbaijani armed forces into the Syunik and Gegharkunik regions.
With these actions, Azerbaijan is also violating the November 9 trilateral statement, since the Azerbaijani side is carrying out attacks against the Republic of Armenia from the territories that came under the Azerbaijani side as a result of the implementation of that statement.
The Republic of Armenia, in accordance with the UN Charter, is entitled to repel by all means the use of force against its territorial integrity and sovereignty.
We call on the international community and our international partners — the Russian Federation, the CSTO, the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship and the co-chairing countries — to respond clearly and in a targeted manner to these actions of the Azerbaijani side, which seriously threaten regional peace and security, and to take active steps towards their prevention and the unconditional and complete withdrawal of Azerbaijan’s armed forces from the territory of the Republic of Armenia.”
