The security of the Republic of Armenia is the security of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Armenia, Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri, who is on a working visit to the province of Syunik, said this in a conversation with journalists, reaffirming the earlier statement by Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs that Iran considers the security of Armenia and the region as its own security.
The ambassador stressed that Iran pursues a policy with all its neighbouring countries aimed at developing cooperation in all directions.
“Armenia is our neighbouring, friendly country, and we pursue that same policy towards Armenia. In terms of security, Iran’s position has always been that the independence and territorial integrity of countries must be respected, including Armenia’s and everyone else’s, in accordance with international law,” said Zohouri.
He noted that cooperation and ties between Armenia and Iran are developing in all directions. The diplomat expressed the hope that this cooperation will expand further day by day.
