The National Security Service has just arrested former NSS head, leader of the “Hayrenik” party, Artur Vanetsyan; Prosperous Armenia Party leader Gagik Tsarukyan; Republican Party of Armenia press spokesperson Eduard Sharmazanov; former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Ara Sahakyan of the “Hayrenik” party; and ARF figures Ishkhan Saghatelyan and Gegham Manukyan.
This morning the NSS also took into custody three more political figures: Artsvik Minasyan of the ARF, Ara Hagopian of the “National Agenda” party, and Arsen Papayan, a member of the “Hayrenik” party.
It should be recalled that Gagik Tsarukyan was taken into custody before the rally demanding Nikol Pashinyan’s resignation, while Vanetsyan and Sharmazanov were detained after the rally.
It is known that former NSS director and “Hayrenik” party chairman Artur Vanetsyan is suspected under Articles 225.1 (organising and holding an assembly in violation of the legally established order) and 307.1 (violating measures and temporary restrictions in effect during the legal regime of martial law) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
