Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan has called for the formation of a new international anti-terrorism alliance. He made this statement in a post on his Facebook page.
“Today, Artsakh and Armenia find themselves on the front line of the fight against international terrorism, in the truest sense of the word. However, in our case, the peculiarity is that this enemy, which threatens the existence of world civilization, has come out against our homeland disguised under the flag of a UN member state, within the ranks of that state’s regular army, and very often in place of that regular army.
In the modern world, when it is literally impossible to hide anything from anyone, everyone has seen with their own eyes and recorded the penetration of the global jihadist terrorist network into Azerbaijan. It is no longer a secret for any state in the world that the target of that monstrous terrorist network is the peaceful population of Artsakh and Armenia, our cities and villages, and our right to live freely and determine our own destiny,” he wrote, and noted that Turkey, which continuously feeds and manages that network, today, with the consent of Baku’s opportunistic authorities, is using Azerbaijan as a tool to create a new hotbed of global terrorism in the South Caucasus.
“Every responsible participant in global political life, whether a state or an international organization, I am convinced, clearly understands the dangerous consequences of such developments. Fresh in all our memories are the recollections of the consequences of the jihadist gang’s attempts to create a state-like entity in Iraq and Syria. All the states of the world have a duty to thwart Turkey’s plan to turn Azerbaijan into a den of terrorism in the South Caucasus.
Armenia and Artsakh are on the front line of the struggle today because they have dignifiedly accepted the challenge thrown at us. And we shall fight until final victory. However, this is not only the problem of Artsakh and Armenia.
As the president of a state waging a struggle for its independence, I call on the civilized world to take an active part in this struggle. The creation of an active and effective global anti-terrorism alliance is the imperative of the day.
I am confident that victory will be ours,” the President of the Republic of Artsakh stated.
