Armenia’s Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan, referring to border issues, noted that today in Syunik such incidents are being recorded where a person, holding the ownership certificate of his plot of land, cannot use the land.
He noted that the OSCE has guidelines that provide a basis for the authenticity of those documents, while Azerbaijan, ignoring all kinds of legal grounds, continues its threats of genocidal policy. “The Azerbaijani authorities are trying to form a stereotype in the world that everything is normal and moving towards peace, and in this way they are trying to cover up the violations,” he said.
Arman Tatoyan observed that no Armenian authority has ever spread hatred towards the people of Azerbaijan, ordinary people, while in Azerbaijan the opposite takes place.
Referring to the prisoners issue, Arman Tatoyan said that Azerbaijan is trying to mislead the international community and turn this issue from legal to political. “We must tell the international community that this conflict has not ended and any person in their custody is a prisoner of war,” he said.
Arman Tatoyan noted that they have met with all the returned prisoners. “I have personally seen, we have had private conversations, I have full knowledge of what is happening there, the treatment, their attitude,” he said, and noted that he cannot make all of that public.
The Defender also noted that he believes our task should be to show that Azerbaijan is pursuing the same genocidal policy that the Ottoman authorities pursued during the years of the Ottoman Empire, because they coincide on all points — religious hatred, ethnic (racial) hatred.
