Armenian Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan has made a post on his Facebook page, informing that Azerbaijani army servicemen have set fire to areas adjacent to the village of Azat in Gegharkunik Province.

We present the post and the published video below:

“According to reports, on September 4, Azerbaijani servicemen again started fires in the vicinity of the village of Azat in Gegharkunik Province of the Republic of Armenia, in the section of the road leading from Norabak village to Azat (in the immediate vicinity of an Azerbaijani position).

According to current data, about 40 hectares of pastureland have been burned, the grass of which, due to scarcity, residents mow as animal feed.

According to reports, there are no new sources of fire in the village of Kut; there are smouldering areas that have veered from the direction of the village toward the Azerbaijani positions (but the reference is to the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia and to land plots used by or belonging to the residents of the villages of the Republic of Armenia). A new source of fire has also appeared in the vicinity of the village of Sotk.

As a result of these actions by Azerbaijani servicemen, since August 29, for several days now, pasturelands and hayfields belonging to civilian residents have been destroyed, people are being deprived of their source of livelihood, which in turn will contribute to the increase of people’s social problems.

The fires are a real danger to the lives of the civilian population and all their property; weather conditions further contribute to their spread.

The aforementioned reports have been verified by the Gegharkunik provincial subdivision of the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia and confirmed with objective evidence.

I am publishing one video. All materials will be summarised in the prescribed manner and, after analysis, will be sent to international organisations, the relevant bodies of the Republic of Armenia and NGOs.”
