The International Court of Justice of the United Nations in The Hague has demanded that Azerbaijan cease the incitement of racial hatred against Armenians.
The Republic of Armenia and Azerbaijan accuse each other of violating the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD) and have requested that urgent measures be taken.
It should be recalled that in October, Yerevan filed a lawsuit against Baku, accusing it of violating six articles of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, also presenting evidence regarding the facts of torture and humiliation of Armenian prisoners of war and other detainees in Azerbaijan.
Armenia has also asked the UN court to apply interim measures before the final ruling on the case, obliging Azerbaijan to first release Armenian prisoners of war and close Baku’s “Park of Military Trophies.”
Baku has filed a counterclaim and accused the Republic of Armenia of similar acts.
