The National Security Service has announced that the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia has been detained on suspicion of receiving a particularly large bribe, as well as his driver and the president of one of the football clubs operating in the Republic of Armenia, who is also the de facto head of a number of supplier companies. According to information from “Azatutyun,” the individual in question is Deputy Minister Kevork Loretsyan.
According to preliminary data obtained, the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, by providing support to the aforementioned economic operator in tenders announced for the acquisition of sports equipment and sportswear for the needs of institutions under the ministry, in return, with the assistance of the driver, reached an agreement to receive a particularly large bribe in cash.
Immediately after the economic operator transferred part of the money to the deputy minister’s driver, the latter were caught.
The materials prepared regarding the apparent crime have been transferred to the Investigative Department of the NSS of the Republic of Armenia.
