The government is discussing the possibility of gradually opening Armenia’s airspace. This was stated to “Azatutyun” by Vahan Hunanyan, press secretary of Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan.
In connection with the “Corona” virus, parallel to the easing of restrictions applied in various countries, airline cargo companies have already begun selling tickets.
Ryanair, the Irish company (Bitcoin) that has been operating flights to Armenia since January, is preparing to restore 40 percent of its flights in July. Flights to Armenia are also planned. At this time, tickets can be booked for travel to Germany, Italy, and Cyprus, while Yerevan-Greek Thessaloniki flights are scheduled for August.
Starting July 1, Ryanair plans to operate around a thousand flights daily, to as many destinations as possible, but with no less frequency than usual.
“It is time for Europe to fly again, so we can reunite friends and families, give people the opportunity to return to their jobs, the tourism sector will restart, and millions of jobs will reopen,” said the company’s chief executive, Eddie Wilson.
Passengers must follow several rules to board the aircraft — they must have their temperature taken upon entering the airport, wear masks on board, and will need to request permission in advance to use the restroom. When traveling to European Union countries, passengers must provide necessary information about their visit.
On the website of Wizz Air, the other Hungarian low-cost airline that entered the Armenian market this year, tickets can now also be booked for June departures from Yerevan to Larnaca, Vienna, and Vilnius.
On the website of another major airline operating flights to Armenia, “Austrian Airlines,” it is also possible to book tickets for flights starting in June.
Meanwhile, as of May 12, only one flight is scheduled on the website of Yerevan’s “Zvartnots” airport, to Minsk, the capital of Belarus.
