In a Facebook live broadcast, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan addressed the incident involving himself and Artur Danielyan. Simonyan said that he met Danielyan on the street by chance, that the latter looked in his direction for a long time, and in response he greeted Artur.
“I said hello, Artur, in response to which I apologise, I heard hello…, I apologise, but I want to be honest and tell almost everything. I approached and said that I have the same opinion about him and hit him on the nose with my head. I think every person watching now, every young person, cannot say that perhaps it would have been right to behave differently,” Simonyan said. Alen Simonyan added that regardless of the fact that he is a state official, he cannot allow anyone walking on the street to use sexual profanity against someone who greets him.
Simonyan said that the blow was followed by a small scuffle. According to Simonyan, the two people who were with Danielyan also hit him, and there was a scuffle, in which people walking on the street intervened, and the three people left the area.
“I am ready to bear responsibility for my action, if I behaved wrongly, although I assess the steps I took as self-defence,” Simonyan said.
Let us recall that earlier, from the police department of public relations and information, it was reported that in the case of the incident between Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan and co-founder of the “Adekvad” movement Artur Danielyan, 2 people were taken in, who were released. Alen Simonyan also recalled the incident that took place years ago between him and Artur Danielyan.
