Dear compatriots, in recent days many from Artsakh, Armenia and the Diaspora have been approaching me with a request to clarify my position regarding the expediency of holding elections under the conditions of the spread of the “Corona” virus.
Within the pre-election campaign period, our political group, together with the “New Artsakh” alliance and other allied forces, has carried out enormous work to make our concept of radical reforms accessible and comprehensible to broader segments of the public. We can state unequivocally that enthusiasm is observed among wide circles of the public, and a significant portion of voters possess the will and determination to lay the foundation of a New Artsakh through the path of radical reforms, which inspires us with additional confidence that on 31 March the victory of the new concept of development will be recorded.
At the same time, the ever-growing danger of the epidemic afflicting us compels us to reassess the situation and to be aware of all the risks associated with the elections. With the Republic of Armenia we share a common security environment, therefore the logic and tactics of the fight against the epidemic must be identical and unified, anchored in the experience already gained by the Republic of Armenia and harmonizing all efforts. World experience testifies that underestimating the dangers of an epidemic can lead to unpredictable consequences.
Deeply aware of today’s challenges threatening our national security and considering the life of every citizen of our country an absolute value, I declare with all sincerity and responsibility that I will understand if it is decided to postpone the elections.
I wish health to us all and am confident that our people will emerge victorious and strengthened from this ordeal.
