Unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic in Armenia continues to remain the government’s number one agenda item, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during a government meeting.
“We must note that our strategy is the following: to continually tighten and ensure compliance with anti-epidemic rules, and we see this as the main means of reducing the number of coronavirus infections. Our 100 percent discipline today will be expressed in clear numbers in no less than a week. That is, today we see the level of discipline we had a week ago.
Again I want to call on our citizens to observe the anti-epidemic rules — wearing a mask, disinfecting hands and maintaining social distance. Ninety-five percent of infection cases are the result of either not wearing a mask, or not maintaining social distance, or not disinfecting hands,” the prime minister noted.
Nikol Pashinyan also stressed that in many cases the cause of the spread of infection is the failure to observe anti-epidemic rules at funerals or underground weddings.
“If necessary, punitive measures must be applied, but we believe that positive momentum is the result of our dialogue with the population,” Pashinyan said.
