It is important that the soldier guarding the border knows that the rear behind him is on a path of development: Pashinyan

RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has emphasized that soldiers standing at the border, looking back, should see a developing settlement looking optimistically toward the future, see a rear that has determination toward the future and lives with culture. Pashinyan said this during his speech at the opening of the 21st international music festival “Yerevan Perspectives” in the Berd community of Tavush Province.

Pashinyan noted that all of today’s events are aimed at paying tribute of appreciation and respect to the heroic people of the Tavush region and the consolidated Berd community. “The July victorious battles were, of course, forged by our soldiers and the army, but for them, a strong and victorious rear was provided by our heroic people of Berd and Tavush. And it is very important to say that today we can make records on several occasions, using the word unprecedented, to show that victories in general, at various scales, do not fall from the sky; they are the result of some collectiveness, some consistency,” said Pashinyan.

He noted that in the border community of Chinari, not a single residential house has been built since RA independence. Today, a residential house is being built from scratch in Chinari at the government’s initiative, and it will be handed over by the end of the year to a large family of ten, fully furnished. The village of Movses has never had an asphalt road in its 300 years of existence. Today, the village of Movses has a road meeting modern requirements.

“The village of Nerkin Karmiraghbyur has never had an asphalt road since independence. Today, a newly built road meeting modern requirements connects the village of Nerkin Karmiraghbyur to the community’s road of republican significance. And we hope that by the end of the year Nerkin Karmiraghbyur will have a modern park that will change the atmosphere of Nerkin Karmiraghbyur. The Aygepar community has never had asphalt streets. Today, all the streets of Aygepar are being asphalted, and the roofs damaged by shelling are being replaced, and they are changing the color of the settlement. We are doing all this not only for the people of Tavush and those villages. Today I was thinking about the renovated roofs of Aygepar, and the most important picture for me was the following: what does our soldier see looking back from his positions? The roofs are more important for our soldiers standing in positions, so that when they look back, they see a settlement living behind them, developing and looking optimistically toward the future, see a rear that has determination toward the future, and also see a rear living with culture,” said the Prime Minister, and reminded of the concert’s title: “Culture as the Rear.”

The Prime Minister noted that today’s visit depicts the government’s vision of a new way of life, a new lifestyle for people in communities and rural settlements. “It is not remembered when a classical music concert was last held in Berd, but we want such concerts to take place here constantly. Moreover, we want such concerts to be not only by invitation; we want there to be ticket offices in Berd and in various communities, and people to stand in line there, have the ability to pay, and pay to attend concerts of this kind,” said Pashinyan.

Addressing the compatriots of the consolidated Berd community, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude. “Thank you for holding the army’s rear so firmly and for holding our country’s border so firmly, first of all psychologically, the psychological border,” said Pashinyan.
