The Ministry of Emergency Situations has summarized the work carried out at the Surmalu trade center.
During the period from August 14 to 24, 1,388 rescue workers from regional and structural subdivisions of the Rescue Service participated in shifts in firefighting and search-and-rescue operations at the Surmalu trade center.
Fifty-four water tanker trucks, 15 ladder trucks, 28 rescue and 30 auxiliary vehicles, as well as 2 UAVs, were involved in shifts in the firefighting and search-and-rescue operations.
Sixty-three citizens applied to Yerevan hospitals, of whom 2 are still receiving treatment, while the rest, having received appropriate medical care, have been discharged.
Psychologists from the psychological support department provided psychological assistance to 69 citizens.
The response efforts also involved the team of the Russian-Armenian Humanitarian Response Center, volunteer groups of the Armenian Red Cross Society, specialized groups of the Survival Arts (UMA) military-patriotic public organization, citizens of Russia and Germany with their trained dogs, as well as other organizations and individual volunteers.
Water tankers, trucks, garbage trucks, as well as tractors, cranes and other equipment provided by the municipality and private companies were also involved in the firefighting and search-and-rescue operations. Ambulance teams were also on duty at the scene.
The fire was contained on August 16 at 14:38 and extinguished at 17:49. According to preliminary data, the area of the firefighting and rescue operations was approximately 1 hectare.
After the fire and explosion, rescue workers pulled 26 citizens from the rubble, of whom 10 were alive and 16 dead.
