Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has expressed readiness to travel to Moscow for negotiations on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue to meet with Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev.

“The Karabakh conflict must be resolved exclusively by peaceful means — that is our position. Unfortunately, Azerbaijan does not agree with that viewpoint. And I am ready to exert all necessary efforts to achieve such an outcome, including travelling to Moscow, meeting and talking,” the Armenian Prime Minister said in response to a TASS question as to whether he was ready to travel to Moscow to meet with the Azerbaijani President through Russia’s mediation.

Moreover, Pashinyan noted that a resolution to the conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh must be based on compromise. “Not on the capitulation of one of the sides, but on compromise,” he stressed.

“If there is no readiness on the other side, we are ready to fight to the end for the rights of our people, for the rights of our compatriots in Nagorno-Karabakh,” Pashinyan continued. “I believe that is the position of the Armenian government, the Armenian people and the Armenian diaspora; I believe it is an honourable and constructive position.”
