Prosecutor General Presents Grounds for Arresting Tsarukyan in Parliament

Armenia’s Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan has submitted motions to the National Assembly to obtain permission to arrest Prosperous Armenia Party leader Gagik Tsarukyan. He is now presenting to parliament the grounds for stripping Tsarukyan of immunity and arresting him. In the first episode, Davtyan recounted that during the proceedings involving the head of the RA Urban Development Committee, documents from one of the companies were discovered, which contain information about vote-bribes distributed by the “Tsarukyan” alliance during the 2017 parliamentary elections. Armenia’s Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan has submitted motions to the National Assembly to obtain permission to arrest Prosperous Armenia Party leader Gagik Tsarukyan. He is now presenting to parliament the grounds for stripping Tsarukyan of immunity and arresting him.

In the first episode, Davtyan recounted that during the proceedings involving the head of the RA Urban Development Committee, documents from one of the companies were discovered, which contain information about vote-bribes distributed by the “Tsarukyan” alliance during the 2017 parliamentary elections.

According to Davtyan, those 5 documents include information on expenses for precincts, voter consents, and other details. They also mention Tsarukyan’s surname.

The prosecutor noted that the head of the “Yerevanshin” company received instructions from Tsarukyan to distribute sums of money to voters. According to Davtyan, it has been proven that Tsarukyan led a group that distributed money to voters.
