On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the pogroms against Armenians in Baku, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, National Assembly President Ararat Mirzoyan, and other high-ranking officials visited the Tsitsernakaberd memorial complex to pay tribute to the memory of the victims of the atrocity. The statesmen laid a wreath at the monument perpetuating the memory of the victims.
Let us recall that 30 years ago, during the period spanning January 13-19, 1990, tens of thousands of Armenians fell victim to a brutal massacre and were forcibly displaced in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
After six days of atrocities perpetrated against Armenians, the city, which had a population of some 250,000 Armenian residents, was emptied of its Armenian inhabitants.
The pogroms that took place were organised by the Azerbaijani Popular Front (APF), while the
authorities patronised them.
