Under the decision of the Court of Criminal Appeals, the bail set at 2 billion drams for the release of Robert Kocharyan has been paid. He is now free. This was announced in a statement issued by Kocharyan’s defence team.
“On 19 June, at the end of the working day, the sum was transferred to the account of the Court of Criminal Appeals. After the procedures prescribed by law and the relevant medical processes, Robert Kocharyan returned home from the ‘Izmirlyan’ medical centre,” the statement said.
It should be recalled that the Court of Criminal Appeals, presided over by Judge Arsen Nikoghosyan, on 18 June decided to partially satisfy the appeal of Robert Kocharyan’s lawyers and release him on bail of 2 billion drams.
