Ruben Shukaryan, diplomat and statesman, has passed away. The news was confirmed on his Facebook page by his son, Narek Shukaryan.
“With great sorrow we announce that this morning in Boston, Massachusetts, Ruben Shukaryan departed this life,” he wrote. It is noted that Ruben Shukaryan had suffered a stroke last week.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated:
“With deep grief we announce that on 21 April, the Republic of Armenia’s state and political figure, diplomat, lecturer and scientist, our dear colleague Ruben Shukaryan, departed this life prematurely.
Mr. Shukaryan made a great contribution to the establishment of the RA diplomatic service system. Throughout his many years of activity as a diplomat, with his high professional preparation, dedication and human qualities, he was able to best represent Armenia’s national interests and advance the RA foreign policy priorities. The result of this was the development of bilateral relations with the United States and a number of European countries, as well as achievements registered in several other directions.
We express our deepest condolences to Mr. Shukaryan’s family members, relatives and all those who mourn his loss. The image of a new enlightened human being and brilliant diplomat will forever remain vivid in our memories”:
