Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces and Army General, has held talks with the Chief of the General Staff of Armenia, Artak Davtyan, RIA Novosti reports.
“I am glad to welcome you in Moscow. Armenia is Russia’s key ally and partner in the South Caucasus,” the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces said at the start of the talks.
Gerasimov noted that the two countries are strengthening cooperation both bilaterally and within international structures, primarily within the framework of the CSTO.
An indicator of the high level of bilateral relations, in his words, is “the activity of the 102nd Russian military base located on the territory of Armenia.”
“We continue to train qualified personnel in the higher educational institutions of the Russian Ministry of Defence,” the Chief of the Russian General Staff said. He also added that during the “Corona” viral pandemic in Armenia, assistance was provided in the diagnosis of servicemen of the Armenian Armed Forces. In total, more than 22,000 tests were carried out.
