Since Friday, Russian peacekeepers are not only in Parukh but also in the Karaglukh section. This was announced on April 9 during a meeting of the government of the Republic of Artsakh by President Arayik Harutyunyan.
He noted that such a precedent had previously occurred in the Yegtsahogh, Mataghis and Taghavard sections.
“In the areas of the tense line of contact, where we have subsequently replaced our positions with peacekeeping forces, we have a certain stability and a calmer situation. According to the November 9 agreement, the positions should not be on our side or on Azerbaijan’s, because the number of peacekeepers is not sufficient to cover the entire length, and the Azerbaijani units continue not only to deploy but also to constantly keep our line of contact and the nearby settlements under fire. To prevent advancement and dangers, we continue to carry out combat duty,” noted Arayik Harutyunyan.
He said that peacekeeping forces are deployed in Parukh, on several heights of Karaglukh, at the highest point are deployed units of the Defense Army, volunteers, as well as units of the National Security Service: “On some heights of the mountain range there are Azerbaijani units, and since yesterday Russian peacekeepers are also in the Karaglukh section.”
