The deputy commander of the N military unit of the Defense Army, a colonel, feigned illness during martial law from October 10 to November 3, 2020, according to information released by the RA Investigative Committee.
“Despite having a health condition that did not require inpatient treatment, he received inpatient care at a medical facility for 23 days. This led to the temporary suspension of his performance of specific military service duties,” the statement said.
The senior officer has been charged under Part 5 of Article 363 of the former RA Criminal Code (corresponding to Part 3 of Article 527 of the current RA Criminal Code) for evading military service by feigning illness during martial law and wartime.
The officer has been arrested for two months. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
