Yesterday, on Independence Day, the “Hero of Our Times” awards ceremony took place at the Zvartnots Temple, which is the official conclusion of the television series of the same name.
Twelve of the series’ heroes receive the “Hero of Our Times” award, and this year two special awards were planned, one of which went to healthcare workers for their fight against the coronavirus pandemic. The second award goes to the military for the heroic battles of July.
Thus, a special award was presented to the healthcare workers of all 20 medical institutions for their dedicated work during the pandemic. The award was presented by Bedros Bedrosyan, who overcame the coronavirus, to Sargis Ghazaryan, head of the “COVID-19” department at the “Saint Gregory the Illuminator” medical center, who, on behalf of all doctors, expressed gratitude for the high appreciation of their work, as well as to the Government for its support during the difficult period of the coronavirus.
The second special award was presented by Samvel Udumyan, who did not leave his village during the July battles, to Narek Hagopyan, a serviceman of the RA Ministry of Defense.
Syrian-Armenians Yolande and Raffi Rshtuni, who are engaged in the production of confectionery, were also awarded.
The “Hero of Our Time” award was handed to the Syrian-Armenian family by the President of the Republic of Artsakh, Arayik Harutyunyan.
Sevak Markosyan, founder of the “Markos toys” company, which manufactures toys, won the main prize at the “Hero of Our Time” awards ceremony. The award was presented to him by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan.


Last year’s winner, Rita Martirosyan, presented the main award to Armine Aghajanyan, who represented the Mosh studio.
The next award was presented by Vahagn Hayrapetyan, Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia, to veterinarian Suren Vardanyan.
The next award was presented by Lyudvig Mikayelyan to jewelers Ani Sargsyan and Narine Yeghoyan.
David Yeremyan presented an award to Lusine Barseghyan, founder and director of the luisa food company.
The next award was presented by Archbishop Bagrat Aristakesyan, spiritual leader of the Tavush Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, to Tigran Baghinjanyan.
The next award was presented by Marie-Lou Papazyan to Artur Khojabaghlyan.
Former MP Mane Tandilyan presented a special award to opticians Babken and David Khachatryan.

RA Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan presented an award to farmer and snail breeder Vahe Hakhverdyan, and RA National Assembly Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan presented an award to beekeeper Karlen Chagharyan.
