On 8 March, the body of serviceman Andranik Karo Ohanyan of military unit N of the Ministry of Defence was found.
The RA Ministry of Defence stated that an investigation is being conducted to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.
Within the framework of the criminal proceedings initiated in the sixth garrison investigative department of the Military Investigative Main Directorate (MIGD) of the RA Investigative Committee (IC), the circumstances of the death of conscript Andranik Ohanyan have been clarified.
The IC stated that on 8 March 2023, a report was received from the Berd department of the RA Ministry of Defence Military Police that on the same day, the body of Andranik Karo Ohanyan, a compulsory conscript of military unit N of the RA Ministry of Defence, had been found in the forest adjacent to the military assembly point, hanging from a tree.
On the occasion of the incident, criminal proceedings were initiated in the sixth garrison investigative department of the MIGD of the RA Investigative Committee under the characteristics of Part 1 of Article 522 of the RA Criminal Code, and a preliminary investigation is being conducted.
A forensic medical examination of the body has been ordered, and a number of servicemen of the military unit have been questioned, both from the officer corps and fellow soldiers.
All necessary and urgent measures have been taken to fully clarify the circumstances of what happened.
The Ministry of Defence shares the heavy grief of the loss and expresses its condolences to the family members, fellow servicemen and relatives of Andranik Ohanyan.
