On January 29 and 30, in Geneva, under the mediation and with the participation of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs Igor Popov (Russia), Stéphane Visconti (France), Andrew Schofer (USA), and the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk, a meeting took place between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Elmar Mammadyarov.
The meeting was preceded by a meeting of the RA Foreign Minister with the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs and the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk.
According to information conveyed by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Anna Naghdalyan, during the three-day direct discussions, issues related to the process of the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict were addressed: the implementation of the agreements reached and proposals discussed in 2019, and possible next steps towards preparing the peoples for peace, as well as the principles and elements underlying a future settlement. The timeline and agenda aimed at advancing the settlement process were also discussed.
Minister Mnatsakanyan stressed the necessity of involving the elected representatives of the people of Artsakh in the peace process.
The Foreign Ministers agreed to meet again in the near future under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs.
