The presence of Azerbaijani armed servicemen (as well as flags and signs) in the communities of the Syunik Province of the Republic of Armenia or on the roads connecting the communities, let alone any movement by them along those roads, must be ruled out, period. The Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia, Arman Tatoyan, wrote this on his Facebook page.
“They are there at the expense of gross violations of the rights of peaceful residents and servicemen of Armenia and Artsakh, ethnic cleansing and mass destruction of peaceful settlements, systematic and ongoing Armenophobia, torture and inhuman treatment, illegal detention of prisoners and ongoing threats of a new war:
With the presence of Azerbaijani servicemen, the rights of Armenia’s primarily border residents continue to be grossly violated or are seriously endangered (property violations, shootings and so on), as are their peaceful life and tranquility.
Therefore, whatever the case, any presence of theirs, let alone movement, is illegal, devoid of any legal title, and contradicts the foundations of the human rights system in international law,” he wrote.
