Before the start of the government session, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan provided details regarding the causes of the fire that broke out in the architectural-sapper company that caught fire.
Pashinyan noted that on 21 December 2022, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces signed order No. 14 of the General Staff, “On fires that occurred in the Armed Forces and their prevention.” Clear instructions were given there on what must be done to observe fire safety rules.
“Point 7 states that the use of petrol and flammable liquids for stoves must be strictly prohibited. That is, the primitive observance of this order would have allowed us not to have this incident. But we are finding out that not only was petrol used, but an attempt was made to open a 5-litre can and pour it into the stove in order to use the stove. Not only did the stove burn; the fire spread to the officer who was trying to light the stove, and acting on self-preservation instinct, the 5 litres of petrol was thrown in the direction of the barracks quarters,” he said.
Pashinyan added that the preliminary investigation will bring to light all the circumstances of the incident, and that all this is only preliminary versions.
