Whether it wants to or not, the CSTO is leaving the Republic of Armenia, and that worries us — Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan declared at a press conference held on March 14.
He recounted an episode from a 2022 conversation with the CSTO Secretary General, when the latter had expressed concern that Armenia wanted to leave the CSTO, while he in response had expressed concern that it was the CSTO that wanted to leave Armenia.
Speaking of Armenia’s renunciation of the post of Deputy Secretary General of the CSTO, Pashinyan said: “By taking on this post, we do not want it to appear that we are sending a wrong message to the people. If it means adding one more factor to the security of the Republic of Armenia, we will gladly take it on; if it does not mean that, we see no point in it,” he noted.
