Vahan Hunanyan, press secretary of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs, presented official Yerevan’s position regarding the signing of the declaration on allied cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan.
“The interstate allied cooperation established between Armenia and Russia, which is based on the centuries-old friendship of the peoples, is self-sufficient in nature and is in no way conditioned by relations with third countries, unless the parties develop them to the detriment of the Armenian-Russian alliance. History and the signed documents also testify to this.
Yerevan and Moscow, at various levels, including high and highest, are consistently taking steps to expand relations in both bilateral and multilateral formats, in the interest of the development of our countries under conditions of guaranteed security.
We hope that the declaration signed in Moscow on February 22 of this year will provide an additional opportunity to advance the implementation of the provisions of the three trilateral statements adopted by the leaders of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan, which may also contribute to the lasting and comprehensive settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict under the mandate of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship,” stated the MFA spokesperson.
