Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan today, on 9 July, met with the leaders of about ten non-parliamentary political forces.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the meeting was attended by the leader of the Liberal Party, Samuel Babayan, the leader of the “Alliance” progressive centrist party, Tigran Urikhanyan, the head of the “Just Armenia” party, Norayr Norikyan, the head of the “Sovereign Armenia” party, Davit Sanasaryan, from the Democratic Party of Armenia, Tigran Arzakantsyan, the leader of the European Party of Armenia, Tigran Khzmalyan, the president of the Christian-Democratic Party of Armenia, Levon Shirinyan, the president of the “United Homeland” party, Mher Terteryan, the leader of the Conservative Party, Mikael Hayrapetyan, and the chairman of the Armenian Board of the Social Democrat Hunchakian Party, Sedrak Achemyan.
Pashinyan informed that prior agreements had been made with several other parties as well, but the leader of the “Republic” party, Aram Sargsyan, and the president of the “Bright Armenia” party, Edmon Marukyan, are not in Armenia.
The Acting Prime Minister stressed that this first meeting is purely organisational in nature: “We must try to form a permanent working format with my participation and the representation of non-parliamentary forces. We view this as, so to speak, a platform for discussing agenda issues of our public life, political life, and economic life, and if one may say so, a brainstorming place where we can discuss all possible issues.”
During the meeting, views were exchanged regarding the future activities of the newly formed format, the formation of session agendas, and the working procedure.
A decision was made to convene the first session with the participation of Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the leaders of non-parliamentary political forces in the near future.
