The positions of our international partners and of Armenia are, in essence, identical: namely, that representatives of Azerbaijan’s armed forces must leave the territory of the Republic of Armenia. This was stated today, 20 May, at the start of the government session, by Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
“This is a fact that has been recorded at the working level. But naturally, in order not to do this, Azerbaijan uses certain levers, actions, and has unexpected — or, we can already say, very expected — allies in Armenia.
At one of the previous sessions of the Security Council, I recorded that in the modern world, the information struggle is sometimes more important than what takes place on the actual field. I want to say again, and I will not avoid that word: Azerbaijan has agents of the information struggle in Armenia’s political elite. Moreover, the activity of these people is not new. Perhaps this problem exists throughout the world, but these people in 2020 were inviting Azerbaijan to attack Armenia — publicly, openly. These people recently, in the National Assembly and in various places, were showing the paths by which one can cross the border of the Republic of Armenia as safely as possible. Now these people are supporting Azerbaijan so that it has the opportunity to avoid implementing the diplomatic work we are doing. Once again, a conspiracy is being woven, drawn up by the government of the Republic of Armenia, against the Republic of Armenia,” said Pashinyan.
He emphasized that we have a very disrespectful situation toward the public of the Republic of Armenia: “A document is published on the internet, 90 percent of which is covered, blacked out. And it is presented as proof that the government of the Republic of Armenia is signing an anti-Armenian document. Well, if that is so, its lines should not be hidden, but its lines should be opened and presented to the public. Why are you hiding it?
I cannot qualify these actions as anything other than the activity of Azerbaijan’s information agency network. I do not know what legal formulation it has, but that is my political assessment. Moreover, it must be analysed where they get these working documents from. As much as I analyse, the only source they can get them from is Azerbaijan. Because a trilateral discussion is underway between Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. As much as I analyse, they get these documents from Azerbaijan.
The solutions on which preliminary agreements have been reached with our international partners — those solutions 100 percent correspond to Armenia’s interests. If Azerbaijan uses those understandings, and under the conditions we have discussed, then yes, I will sign that document,” said Nikol Pashinyan, adding that he will not publish that document now, because it is not right; it is a working document, and negotiations are ongoing.
