The civilized world has been silently following the developments around little Artsakh for 100 days. This was stated in a declaration issued by the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh, Artur Tovmasyan, on the occasion of the 100th day of the blockade of Artsakh.
“Ignoring and disregarding the numerous statements and adopted resolutions of the international community, as well as the calls of individual authoritative figures, and especially the decision of the International Court of Justice in The Hague, the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan continues to keep the road of life closed.
Because of the blockade, the atmosphere of distrust between the two peoples is deepening.
The will of the Artsakh Armenian is unbreakable. Is there, then, an option for lifting the blockade? I believe there is. Studying world experience, we can cite the application of sanctions.
On one pan of the scale are placed democratic values, on the other—oil and gas. It is precisely here that the civilized world must make a choice. And, if democratic values were truly more important for the big players, then the blockade would have been lifted long ago.
The Artsakh Armenians earn their daily bread. Perhaps the greatest work—from the infant in the maternity ward to the aged elder—is the preservation of the dignity of the Armenian nation, which we carry out with God’s blessing and thanks to our perseverance.
God protect the two Armenian republics,” was stated in the declaration.
