Blinken had a telephone conversation with Aliyev on 21 March, offering the United States’ continued support in facilitating bilateral peace discussions with Armenia. This was announced by the United States Department of State.
Blinken encouraged finding a solution to unresolved issues and stressed that there is no military solution. He reaffirmed the importance of reopening the Lachin corridor, noting that the United States expects continued cooperation in the peace process.
Regarding the telephone conversation, Blinken wrote the following on his Twitter page: “Today I spoke with Azerbaijani President Aliyev to convey my support for a durable peace with Armenia and our readiness to contribute to those efforts. Direct negotiations are the only path to a lasting and sustainable peace.”
