During the entire electoral process period, from the day elections were called until election day, 110 people were detained. This was stated by Yerevan city prosecutor Sevak Hovhannisyan during the examination of applications challenging the results of the snap parliamentary elections at the Constitutional Court.
The prosecutor stated that of those detained, 20 are representatives, supporters, proxies, or individuals in some way connected to the “Armenia” alliance, 39 are from the “I Have Honor” alliance, and the remaining 51 were either from other parties or participants in the electoral process.
According to the Yerevan prosecutor, 29 searches were conducted during the electoral process period, of which 7 were carried out in the homes or buildings of individuals connected to the “Armenia” alliance, 20 in connection with the “I Have Honor” alliance, and 2 others.
“Those searches were carried out on the basis of properly substantiated motions regarding legal and factual grounds, by judicial acts issued by courts, and we have no information regarding the existence of appeals filed with higher judicial instances concerning their legality.
In our opinion, the number of detained supporters of the “Armenia” and “I Have Honor” alliances and the searches conducted in their homes and buildings is proportionate to the number of reports concerning apparent electoral crimes committed by them,” said prosecutor Sevak Hovhannisyan.
