Your visit and such meetings are always important, because you are one of the key investors in the Republic of Armenia and, in particular, one of the most important investors from the Diaspora in the Republic of Armenia. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan hosted Armenia’s National Hero, Argentine-Armenian businessman and philanthropist Eduardo Eurnekian.

In his remarks, Nikol Pashinyan noted, in particular: “Dear Mr Eurnekian, I welcome you to Yerevan. I am glad for our latest meeting. Your visit and such meetings are always important, because you are one of the key investors in the Republic of Armenia and, in particular, one of the most important investors from the Diaspora in the Republic of Armenia. Therefore, I believe your investment mood also predetermines the overall investment mood in the Republic of Armenia.

Our country has gone through very difficult trials. Just days ago, in the elections held on June 20, our government reaffirmed its mandate under the slogan ‘There is a Future’. And I hope that your work agenda and mood are also directed at restoring our country’s economic optimism and faith in the future. We attach great importance to your personal role here.”

In turn, Eduardo Eurnekian congratulated Nikol Pashinyan on the victory of the “Civil Contract” party in the elections and added: “Mr Prime Minister, I am very moved by your words. Unfortunately, the pandemic brought changes to all our agendas — in terms of time, space and travel — but it seems we are already overcoming it, and I am here.

Mr Prime Minister, I did not want too much time to pass; I wanted to come as soon as possible and congratulate you on the victory, because it is very important, and we supported your victory from the very beginning.

We are making investments in various sectors in Armenia. And we are inclined to continue, to make large, large-scale investments in Armenia. We are currently in negotiations with a bank. We see good growth in the tourism sector in Armenia, and fortunately, we will soon propose a new investment in the airport construction sector. My cousin Martin, who currently manages all this, will arrive in Armenia very soon to establish contact with the person you will designate, naturally, to discuss the investment programme.

We must express great satisfaction regarding the developments in the wine and viticulture sector in Armenia, which we were able to foresee, invest in and reform. Fortunately, today those wines are spread throughout Europe.

I do not want to take too much of your time, Mr Prime Minister, I am at your disposal.”

Nikol Pashinyan and Eduardo Eurnekian discussed the programmes implemented in Armenia by “Armenia” International Airports CJSC. In particular, reference was made to issues related to the development, improvement of infrastructure, renovation and future operation of Yerevan’s “Zvartnots” and Gyumri’s “Shirak” airports, which are under the company’s management. The interlocutors also exchanged views on other business programmes implemented in Armenia by companies owned by Eduardo Eurnekian and planned for the near future.
