As a result of the Russo-Ukrainian war, 23 Armenians have been killed, 5 of them military personnel and 18 civilians. These are the latest figures from the Union of Armenians of Ukraine.
The Union’s vice-president, Davit Mkrtchyan, stressed that 23 are the confirmed cases so far, but that this number may change: “We pray that there will not be more, but every 2-3 days we hear that people are being killed there, there, there.”
The situation continues to remain extremely grave in besieged Mariupol, where people are trying to find ways to get out. The Armenian community of Ukraine welcomes them and tries to provide the necessary assistance: “On Saturday a humanitarian corridor was announced; 45 buses left Zaporizhzhia in the morning, brought food, medicine, water and fuel into the city, and brought back with them about 2,000 people from among Mariupol’s residents. There were Armenians among them as well. Our men are working with the local community on those lists, and we find those Armenians and try to allocate assistance to them.”
