38-Year-Old Contract Soldier Fatally Wounded by Gunfire in Yeraskh: RA Ministry of Defense

On the morning of 14 July, as a result of a provocation carried out by Azerbaijani armed forces in the Yeraskh section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, a contract soldier of the RA Armed Forces N military unit, Private Samvel Alaverdyan, born in 1983, received a fatal gunshot wound. On the morning of 14 July, as a result of a provocation carried out by Azerbaijani armed forces in the Yeraskh section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, a contract soldier of the RA Armed Forces N military unit, Private Samvel Alaverdyan, born in 1983, received a fatal gunshot wound. The information is reported by the RA Ministry of Defense press service.

The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia shares the heavy grief of the loss and expresses solidarity with the family members, relatives and comrades-in-arms of the fallen soldier.

It should be noted that Azerbaijani Armed Forces units, with the aim of advancing combat positions, attempted to carry out fortification works using engineering equipment.

After the Armenian side’s counteractions aimed at halting the aforementioned works, Azerbaijani soldiers opened aimed fire in the direction of Armenian positions. As a result of the ensuing exchange of fire, a soldier of the RA Armed Forces received a fatal gunshot wound. The Azerbaijani side also has losses.
