Eight patients referred to Armenia for medical treatment have returned to Artsakh accompanied by the International Committee of the Red Cross, according to a statement on its Facebook page by the Artsakh Information Headquarters.
“Because of the blockade by Azerbaijan of the only road connecting Artsakh to Armenia, 5 people with oncological diseases were transferred today, February 26, from the ‘Republican Medical Center’ CJSC (Closed Joint-Stock Company) of the Artsakh Ministry of Health to specialized medical centers of the Republic of Armenia, through the mediation and accompaniment of the International Committee of the Red Cross.”
Eight patients, who had been referred within the framework of the state order to receive treatment in the Republic of Armenia, have returned to Artsakh with their escorts.
Planned (scheduled) surgeries continue to remain suspended in medical institutions operating under the jurisdiction of the Artsakh Ministry of Health.
In the ‘Arevik’ medical unit, 2 children are in the neonatal and intensive care units.
In the ‘Republican Medical Center’ CJSC, 6 patients are in the intensive care unit, 3 of whom are in extremely critical condition.
“Until today, a total of 127 patients have been transferred from Artsakh to Armenia through the mediation and accompaniment of the International Committee of the Red Cross,” the statement said.
