This year’s economic results show that the Armenian government’s actions aimed at implementing the economic revolution have been justified and effective. As reported by Armenpress, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this in his speech during the year-end meeting of the American Chamber of Commerce in Armenia on November 14.

“From the first days of its activity, our government has declared the agenda of implementing an economic revolution in Armenia. In essence, to move along that path in the first phase, we have declared three main directions. The first is the fight against corruption, the second is the elimination of monopolies, and the third is the fight against the shadow economy. Our first-tier actions have been directed at this, and we can note that with the results of the economic year in 2019, this approach has justified itself, has shown its effectiveness, because this year we expect 7 percent economic growth. Moreover, we expect that economic growth while having significant and tangible changes in the economy. The main part of those changes is shaped by our vision regarding the future,” said Pashinyan.

On the other hand, the Prime Minister of Armenia understands that the potential of these three tools is not eternal, and a new toolkit must be applied to stimulate further economic growth and investments.

“Of course, we understand that these three tools have a certain potential, and that potential is not eternal. I mean the fight against the shadow economy, corruption, and monopolies; they, of course, must be continuous, but they have reserves to stimulate economic growth and activity, and that reserve must be exhausted at some point. Therefore, the government must apply a new toolkit to stimulate further economic growth and investments,” concluded Pashinyan.
