The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, has sent a congratulatory message on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of Armenia’s independence, which we present below.-
Dear people, proud citizens of the Republic of Armenia,
Proud citizens of the Republic of Artsakh,
Proud Armenians of the Diaspora, I congratulate you all on the occasion of Armenia’s Independence Day.
29 years ago, on this day, through a referendum, our people unanimously affirmed Armenia’s independence. The referendum of September 21, 1991, is one of the most important events in the history of our people, the beginnings of which were laid as early as 1988, with the Artsakh movement.
The results of the referendum signaled to the whole world the freedom-loving will of the Armenian people to have an independent and democratic state.
Over the past 29 years, we have together faced numerous trials: war, socio-economic difficulties, emigration, falsified elections, October 27, political repression, March 1, crisis situations and despair.
All these difficulties, however, could not break the Armenian people. The non-violent, velvet, popular revolution of 2018 became an eloquent expression of state optimism and civic determination, proving that the will of the Armenian people to have a sovereign, free, powerful and happy state is stronger than ever. A sovereign and free state, the eternity of that state, is at the core of the Armenian people’s national agenda, and we shall concentrate all our efforts on the daily service of this agenda.
Dear compatriots,
Today I am publishing Armenia’s transformation strategy up to 2050, which is not a rigid document, but a mechanism for discussing, refining, making decisions on the implementation of, and monitoring the implementation of our visions, goals, and the paths to achieving those goals regarding the Republic of Armenia of 2050.
I believe that with this we are entering a new phase of our state life, when we govern the state with strategic logic, when every decision made today has not only current, but also strategic targets and goals of 10, 20, 30 years.
This is a mechanism that will make discussions about the future, the planning and building of the future, an integral part of our daily work.
In 1991, we did not know what Armenia would look like in 2020, and due to many objective circumstances, we did not devote time to formulating our visions of today and making their realization a daily task.
But time inevitably places us before such a problem. We cannot wait for the arrival of 2050 or 2100 to see what Armenia has become. We must plan that Armenia, sketch it and build it from today onward. Accordingly, from the sometimes discouraging and confusing flood of the day’s many and varied questions, we must give priority to those that connect us to the Armenia of 2050 and 2100.
The citizen of the Republic of Armenia celebrating the 100th anniversary of independence shall see that we have thought not only of ourselves, but also of him, shall feel our affection and responsibility towards Armenia’s future, that is, towards his present, and shall see our dreams of today about that day realized.
I am convinced that we have sufficient will, skill, unity and wisdom to fill our daily agenda with such work and to ensure unshakable fundamental conditions for the eternity of Armenia and the Armenian people.
This is the core mission of our generation, and we shall accomplish this mission together.
And so,
Long live Freedom,
Long live the Republic of Armenia,
Long live we and our children, who live and shall live in a Free and Happy Armenia:
