A delegation from the ADL Lebanese Regional Board, headed by the Board’s chairman and ADL Central Board member Dr. Avetis Dakesian, visited the benevolent Prelate of Lebanon, Archbishop Shahe Panossian, in his office at the Prelacy on 17 November 2023.
The delegation conveyed to His Grace the Prelate the greetings of the ADL Lebanese Regional Board. The Board declared that it would assist in every way the Lebanese-Armenian community in overcoming these difficult days. Matters of concern to the Armenian people were discussed, such as the Artsakh odyssey, Lebanon’s economic conditions, and the importance of preparing human resources. The Board also called for developing our national structures by enhancing human resources and representation.
His Grace the Prelate, for his part, stressed the importance of supporting the sons of our nation so that they remain attached to the Lebanese homeland, which has given us so much and which we must not abandon. Rather, by joining hands we must rise and support the sons of our people, securing dignified living conditions for them. His Grace the Prelate also affirmed that the important Armenian communities of the Middle East are in a difficult situation. Endurance is imperative in this period. The role of those communities is essential in preserving the Armenian character of the Diaspora. The development and securing of human resources is also imperative for developing and maintaining the Diaspora.
At the end of the candid meeting, which lasted over an hour, the parties promised to remain in communication in order to overcome all the obstacles facing our people.
