If the company operating the Amulsar mine, “Lydian Armenia,” implements the 16 mitigation measures and additional actions, then the environmental risks will become manageable. This was stated today, on 26 August, during a meeting with journalists by the head of the investigative group for the Amulsar case, Yura Ivanyan.
Referring to biodiversity and air quality management, Ivanyan noted that experts have reached the conclusion that no violations of national and international regulations have been recorded.
“That is, the impact on biodiversity has been assessed as sufficient, and as for the air quality assessment, the experts have not found serious problems that cannot be mitigated. That is, the project’s impact on air quality is manageable; all those concerns that dust would reach the adjacent settlements, including Jermuk, are unfounded,” said Ivanyan and emphasized that if “Lydian Armenia” implements the mitigation measures and additional actions, then the environmental risks will be manageable.
