«Ramgavar Mamoul», Yerevan.- The issue of the Amulsar mine near the town of Jermuk continues to remain a topic of heated discussions.
It should be noted that at noon today, a group of environmentalists organized a protest gathering in front of the RA National Assembly building, immediately after which, and by a previously arranged appointment, a large number of environmentalists and activists held a closed meeting with RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Local media reported before the end of the meeting that the head of the RA government had refused to issue a final conclusion regarding the Amulsar matter, while several environmentalists left the National Assembly building halfway through the meeting, declaring that the government’s conclusions on the Amulsar issue do not align with the interests of the people.
It should be noted that while the closed meeting was taking place inside the National Assembly building, outside, environmentalists attempted to block Baghramyan Avenue, resulting in clashes between police officers maintaining order in the area and the environmentalists.
Let us recall that the Amulsar mine issue became a main agenda item following the conclusions prepared by the government on the matter and published under the auspices of the investigative body, on the basis of which information circulated that the Amulsar mine would be opened and the Lydian Armenia company would proceed with the mining operation.
It is worth noting that the main conclusion of the citizens and administrative bodies of the Jermuk region is that the exploitation of Amulsar is harmful in every sense to the population of that area, as well as to the economic situation and health of citizens who have placed their hopes on tourism.
