On August 20, Armenia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ararat Mirzoyan, had a telephone conversation with Artsakh’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Davit Babayan. The latter congratulated Ararat Mirzoyan on assuming the responsible position of Minister of Foreign Affairs during an important period for Armenia and Artsakh.
Ararat Mirzoyan and Davit Babayan emphasized the importance of the continued development of the effective cooperation established between the foreign policy departments of Armenia and Artsakh and of holding periodic consultations.
Referring to the Karabakh issue, the heads of the foreign ministries of Armenia and Artsakh emphasized the need to resume the process of peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship and to achieve a comprehensive and lasting settlement.
The interlocutors discussed the situation created by the Azerbaijani-Turkish attack and the efforts being made locally to address the humanitarian crisis in Artsakh. The inadmissibility of provocative actions carried out by Azerbaijani armed forces along the borders of Armenia and Artsakh was stressed, as these pose a serious threat to regional peace and stability.
