Within the framework of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, a ministerial meeting of the “Alliance for Multilateralism” platform took place, in which the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, participated and delivered a speech.

In the speech, in particular, the following was said:

“Dear colleagues,

I highly appreciate the holding of this ministerial meeting of the “Alliance for Multilateralism” platform and the opportunity to participate.

Armenia reaffirms its strong commitment to multilateralism, which is all the more essential today, amid growing disasters around the world.

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to hinder our joint efforts to find solutions to global challenges and to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

We are convinced that the international community has the toolkit to fight the pandemic and contain its spread worldwide, by ensuring global access to vaccines and carrying out vaccination campaigns. Armenia is deeply convinced that access to vaccines must be impartial and fair, as they are truly a global public good, and only through vaccination will we be able to overcome this still raging pandemic.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a severe impact on every state, hindering economic progress and disrupting the security environment both in the region and in the world.

Under the conditions of the global pandemic, the war unleashed by Azerbaijan against Nagorno-Karabakh and its people led to a humanitarian catastrophe. Even today, Azerbaijan continues to block the entry of humanitarian missions into Artsakh, depriving peaceful residents of the possibility of receiving humanitarian aid.

Since one of the main goals of the Alliance is to ‘protect, preserve and develop international law, including international humanitarian and human rights law,’ we call on all members not only to strengthen pressure on Azerbaijan to ensure the rights of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh and the return of Armenian prisoners of war, but also to support the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship in finding a lasting political solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Thank you”:
