On April 18, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan received Andrew Schofer, the United States co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group.
During the meetings, Andrew Schofer stressed that the United States remain committed to their mandate within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group.
The interlocutors exchanged views on starting negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan on a comprehensive peace treaty. Within that framework, Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the mediating role of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs.
The implementation of the agreements on the establishment of a commission on border demarcation and border security was deemed important.
Ararat Mirzoyan presented to Andrew Schofer the situation created in Artsakh. The parties discussed in detail the humanitarian problems arising from the consequences of the 44-day war, particularly the issues of the immediate release and repatriation of Armenian prisoners of war and other detainees, and the preservation of Armenian cultural and religious heritage in the territories that came under Azerbaijani control.
