On April 24, representatives of the Armenia-Israel and Armenia-Syria parliamentary friendship groups will visit the Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex and pay their respects. The director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, Harutyun Marutyan, announced this from the press hall of Armenpress.
According to him, at this time it is known that a minister from the Netherlands and the representative of the International Organisation of La Francophonie will also visit the memorial complex.
Referring to the events to be held ahead of April 24, Marutyan noted that on April 20-22, an international conference titled “The Challenges of Teaching the Armenian Genocide in the 21st Century,” which is currently unique of its kind in the Armenian reality, will take place, within the framework of which 29 reports will be presented. Among the speakers will be representatives from the United States, Spain, Cambodia, Israel, Rwanda and Lebanon.
Marutyan noted that on April 20, a temporary exhibition titled “In the Footsteps of Armenian Schools: Testimonies of an Educated Nation” will open at the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute.
“The Armenian people left a huge heritage in the Ottoman Empire, Western Armenia and Cilicia. The Armenians managed to organise educational work despite all the pressures. The exhibition addresses this,” he said, adding that the author of the exhibition is Seda Parsamyan, responsible for temporary exhibitions.
According to the director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, on April 23 at 12:00, an exhibition of graphic works by French-Armenian artist Jean Pierre Seferian will open at the museum. “On April 29 at 11:00, the temporary exhibition ‘The Armenian Horrors Through the Eyes of the Dutch’ will open,” Marutyan informed.
